It was the week before lockdown , March 2020 and Macapella sent me over this incredible beat. I was self isolating in an empty house myself and was feeling terrible. No idea whether it was or wasn't covid but I remember the nausea and general confusion as the world seemed to turn upside down . I tried to focus on writing to this beat and recorded it there and then in a kitchen with a microphone I had borrowed from Morphamish . The plan was to edit the words and re-record the vocals properly but I feel like this has captured that moment like a time capsule and I don't want to mess about with it any more. It reminds me of feeling lost, sick and helpless. A feeling that I have almost got used to throughout the rest of this weird year.
This is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming Jackal Trades album 'At This Point' which is due to drop early 2021. IF there is a 2021.
lyrics
I am sorry but I got it, it got me , I’m going
On a far away holiday no plans on returning
Would you miss me? Lately, I ain’t so sure
From sooth sayer to noo dour I no longer feel Truer
And you are levitating over me and pure
Am a footnote of an anecdote but the future needs you
I’ve become a worser version of my former person
Denial gives permission to pick up this weapon
Reality cheats me and leads to aggression
Want to break out this box that I’m stuffed down and kept in
I reckon the dirt road just got too damn windy
The twists were confusing the lights how they blind me
Satnavs to enemies mapped out how they find me
In unlikely hidey holes me? Meeee no likey
I am leaving a trail Im too tired to fight it
Stole petrol from Peter told Paul to ignite it
Last Man standing on the edge of the world
Rolling solo with a flag unfurled
This is a man who runs from discussion
Comes from the tunnel of fuzz and expulsion
Turns into devil on worst of consumption
Struggles to function and fuckin' disgusting
Understands why you can't but just wants you to love him
Outcast from all funding relies on his cunning
I speak in the third I see some of you wondering
Hoping for the forks in the tongue in abundance
It sickens to witness the pits of corruption
The worst bits conforming in order to summon
Up a little something I'm burnt out but gunning
For those who forbid me, forgive me I'm coming
And you can't stun me with a lump sum
I'm troublesome and running into oncoming traffic
With a mask made for surgeon
The muzzle hides a piece of the puzzle called consumption
Translating isolation but transmitting from nothing
translating isolation transmitting from nothing
